1. Stitching & Construction
Look for consistency, straight lines, and security. Are stitch lengths uniform, especially on logos, tags, and seams? Check for loose threads, missed stitches, or areas where the stitching appears puckered or strained. On bags and shoes, pay extra attention to stress points like handle attachments and sole bonding.
2. Logo & Design Element Placement
Accuracy is crucial here. Compare the placement, size, and proportion of logos/designs to authentic references or the seller's original photos. Is the logo centered? On clothing, check alignment between the left and right sides. For items with repeating patterns, ensure the pattern matches correctly at the seams.
3. Material Quality & Texture
While color can be slightly off due to lighting, texture and grain are revealing. Does the leather look artificially grained or plastic-like? Does the fabric have the correct sheen or weave? Look for wrinkles or creasing that might indicate poor material storage or thin, cheap fabric.
4. Overall Shape & Symmetry
Examine the item's silhouette. Does a shoe or bag stand straight and symmetrical? Are both sneaker toe boxes the same shape? For clothing, lay flat photos should show even shoulders and matching sleeve lengths. Asymmetry is a major red flag.
5. Tags, Labels & Accessories
Don't overlook the details. Verify that hangtags, care labels, and authenticity cards (if applicable) are present, correct, and have accurate spelling/fonts. Missing or poorly replicated accessories can indicate a lower-tier batch.
